The Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

The Abrazo EM Residency Diversity and Inclusion Committee is committed to recruiting a diverse group of physicians to our residency program and to preparing our residents to care for increasingly diverse patients. In this context, we are mindful of all aspects of human identity such as socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, spiritual practice, geography, ability, and age.

Our Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Committee works to ensure we fulfill this commitment in the following ways:

  • Supporting resident research projects which center around promotion of diversity and inclusion in medicine

  • Actively recruiting eligible senior, underrepresented medical students to audition with our program

  • Providing scholarship opportunities to senior, underrepresented medical student applicants from outside the state of Arizona to rotate with our program

  • Promoting our sub-committee, the Women in Medicine Group, and encourage emergency medicine residents and faculty to actively participate in their events

  • Sharing dedicated D&I articles at journal club meetings

  • Developing a diversity and inclusion lecture and workshop series longitudinally during didactics
